The top USAC Sprint Car drivers showed they had the speed to overtake on Thursday night at Plymouth, as Justin Grant and Kevin Thomas Jr. charged to podium finishes and Brady Bacon earned a hard charger award…
But it was CJ Leary picking up the victory in the series’ first of three races this weekend, doing so once again in similar fashion.
Leary picked up his first win of the year in the brand-new Michael No. 77 car at BAPS Motor Speedway earlier this season. Getting number two on Thursday will go a long way.
The race, which went 30 straight green flag laps, showed signs of going to Grant or Thomas Jr.
Both drivers had blistering speed on the backstretch and Thomas Jr. was making it work utilizing the middle groove in the turns.
However, Leary was able to build a big lead and keep his competitors behind.
Friday night, the series will head to Lincoln Park Speedway for the two-day USAC-MSCS Sprintacular.
It will be a two-day show, but the USAC tour will not count Friday’s action towards its overall season point total, so don’t be surprised if a couple of teams try something outside the box.
As always, the action can be followed live on FloRacing.com.
