Hy-Vee to sponsor third full-time Rahal Letterman Lanigan car in '22
Hy-Vee will sponsor a third, full-time RLL Honda for the 2022 IndyCar season.

Hy-Vee’s Headquarters were home to Thursday’s groundbreaking IndyCar press conference that reveled the company would be sponsoring a pair of races that return the top open wheel series in the world to the Iowa Speedway.

But, they had bigger commitments than that on mind to IndyCar.

On top of sponsoring two races during the 2022 season, Hy-Vee will be backing Rahal Letterman Lanigan’s No. 45 Honda as the exclusive, primary sponsor for the team’s third, full-time car in the series.

RLL had been rumored to be expanding to a third-car in the series during recent weeks, and will now carry the Hy-Vee colors for each and every race of the season next year.

Three paint schemes were unveiled for the car, dawning red, white, and black wraps on it to be used across the year.

It was not revealed which scheme would be the main primary car, however the black paint scheme was shown on video boards at the Hy-Vee press conference first.

The driver for the third Rahal Letterman Lanigan car was not revealed at Thursday’s press conference.

The team, however, is expected to retain both Graham Rahal and Takuma Sato as part of its 2022 driver lineup.

Graham, son of team owner Bobby Rahal, is currently sixth in the points standings, setting up for one of his best points finishes of his career.

Sato is currently 11th in the series standings.
