Almost a month to the day after taking home a $1,000,000-check at the Eldora Million, Jonathan Davenport found himself in victory lane at another big-money race on Monday.

The driver of the No. 49 swept the night at the RaceXR Super Series’ Fever Heat 100 at Stuart International Speedway in Iowa, earning quick time honors and winning his heat race on top of the A-Main.

“I think it went good, obviously it went good for me,” Davenport said postrace. “We set fast time, won our heat and won the race. I like coming to new places, but I don’t know exactly out it raced – I can’t see behind me.”

The win nets Davenport another $20,000 to his 2022 earnings and inches him closer to Chris Madden for the points lead in the series.

Davenport is now just 43 points out of the lead for the newly formed national tour.

“It’s just a testament to my guys, how much they’ve learned, how much they’ve put into this deal and just our whole team at Lance Landers Motorsports,” Davenport said. “We definitely put in a lot of time and effort and that’s what shows.”

Tim McCreadie took home the runner-up spot, edging out Marshalltown, Iowa native Ryan Gustin for the second position on the podium.

Like many drivers before and after the race, McCreadie had a plentiful amount of thoughts on the race track and the prep work that went into it before the A-Main.

He went as far to say the track – which hadn’t hosted a super late model race on the national scale prior to Monday – could handle a 100-lap feature.

“I think it’s a real nice race track,” McCreadie said. “They do a very good job. It just seems whenever we come to big races, they seem to be trying harder than they normally would. It was a one-lane track for 20-plus laps and when it finally wiped out. I think if we had another 20 (laps) we would have had an awesome race.”

Davenport, though, was too far ahead to get a grasp on the conditions.

“I wasn’t able to get around lapped cars very easy, but I never really had to,” Davenport said. “For whatever reason, I think it’s a little racier with the modifieds. They do the track a little different than we do – we rely on a lot of grip and if there is any there, we use it up pretty quick. I think they did all that they could do. They obviously put a lot of work in farming the track before the feature.”

The series returns to the track for the Fever Heat 100 finale on Tuesday, racing for the same amount of money on the Iowa track. Fans unable to attend can watch the broadcast on racexr.plus.
