In a statement released Wednesday, the Chili Bowl Nationals will rescind its previously announced tire requirement, which limited allowed tires to ones Hoosier will continue to produce ahead of the event.
After teams and drivers posted on social media about it, the organization released a statement reversing the decision.
“We would first like to apologize for the confusion and panic caused by Wednesday’s release regarding tire usage at the 2023 Lucas Oil Bowl National presented by General Tire.
We have rescinded the requirements for the rear axle, and any brand of Midget Racing Tire will be acceptable for use during the 2023 event. The tires that were posted Wednesday are the ones that Hoosier is manufacturing, but all discontinued inventory of Midget Racing Tire will be allowed for use.”
Any and all midget tires will be allowed to be used during the January 9-14, 2023 event and as always, the tires will not be allowed to be altered chemically.
