Brad Sweet confirms chase for fifth WoO title, unveils '23 paint scheme

Brad Sweet and Kasey Kahne Racing confirmed Thursday that the No. 49 team would be returning to the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series tour to chase a fifth championship of his career.

With the Grass Valley, Calif. native co-owning the High Limit Series, there was some question marks surrounding his participation in the tour full-time this year, despite Sweet stating his goals were not to take the World of Outlaws out of business.

“Winning at the highest level of Sprint Car Racing is something you don’t take for granted, and I think our consistent drive for more success and passion to be better is what has made our Kasey Kahne Racing, NAPA Auto Parts No. 49 team so strong over the years,” Sweet said in a release. “You’re never perfect out here on the road, so there are always improvements to be made and we are always chasing those. I think last year was kind of statistically, if you will, our worst championship in a way. Winning only five races was strange, especially after winning 16 before that, so there’s a big chip on our shoulder coming back this year.”

The four-time series champion and 2018 Knoxville Nationals winner will embark on the season beginning at Volusia Speedway Park’s DIRTCar Nationals.

The series kicks off its season on February 9 and every race can be seen live on DirtVision.
