It was a surprise to many on Wednesday afternoon when the All Star Circuit of Champions posted a photo on Twitter of the draw sheet at Waynesfield that showed Spencer Bayston driving the Sam McGhee Motorsports No. 11 car.
After all, Ian Madsen had piloted the red-and-black vehicle throughout the season, collected a win earlier at Ohio Speedweek and was running second in series points through Tuesday night.
FloRacing confirmed on its broadcast, however, that the Madsen-McGhee partnership was no more.
Spencer Bayston will be in the race car for the remainder of the 2021 season, as well.
Bayston, who has jumped around with different teams through the past few seasons, will be looking to put strong runs together and try to find some big wins.
This ride could be a big point in the youngster’s career, and it started off on Wednesday night with a 15th-place finish in his first night in the car.
Madsen was not able to find another ride for Wednesday night at Ohio Speedweek and his future plans, as of now, are unknown.
The ASCoC’s Ohio Speedweek continues on Thursday night as the tour goes to Muskingum.
