There’s something about the northern swing that plays to Brandon Sheppard’s driving style.
The driver of the Rocket Chassis House car proved that by claiming another big win on Sunday – his second of the week and fourth this season.
It’s not the 18 that he corralled during the 2020 season, but Sheppard is looking like his old self as we approach a pair of big late model races in the country in back-to-back weekends.
“Our car is really good right now,” Sheppard said on the broadcast. “This is by far my favorite stretch on the tour that we have. This whole area has great tracks – you know, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska even – everywhere we go has great race tracks and we like coming to them. It really fits our Rocket Chassis car well.”
With the win, Sheppard gained six points on Chris Madden – who is hanging steady with Sheppard in the battle for the championship.
Madden came up late by racing through lapped traffic in order to take a podium spot away and finish behind Cade Dillard.
“Lapped traffic was really tough,” Sheppard said on DirtVision. “I watched Cade in the heat race there and I knew he was going to be tough to handle in the feature.”
The wins increasing comes as Late Model drivers around the country are trying to prepare for the annual Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80 Speedway ahead of the World of Outlaws Prairie Dirt Classic in two weeks.
