Buddy Kofoid sat in second place with three laps remaining in Monday night’s Indiana Midget Week main event at Circle City Raceway.
That was until race leader Logan Seavey had an issue with his car that forced him to bring it into the infield, surrendering the lead to Kofoid, who went on to earn his first win of the 2023 USAC Midget season.
“All of the above,” Kofoid said when asked on if it was luck that delivered the victory to him on the FloRacing broadcast. “We were good most of the day, but just probably didn’t find our right balance. The feature was the most comfortable I felt.”
Series and IMW points leader Jacob Denney came home in second, while Bryant Wiedeman rounded out the podium in third.
Gavin Miller held the lead for the first 12 laps, before an accident took him out of the race as the first car to fall victim in the A-Main.
Ryan Timms and Seavey each had issues late in the race, that ended their shots at top five finishes.
“I didn’t see anyone or hear anyone until Logan (Seavey) got around me and he was really good,” Kofoid said. “He and I are friends, and it sucks to see that (happen) to anyone.”
Indiana Midget Week continues Wednesday, with night 3 of the mini-series set for Gas City I-69 Speedway. As always, all of the action can be found live on FloRacing.
