The second to last race of the 2021 USAC Midget season looked a lot like the past few.
Buddy Kofoid won a battle between himself and Chad Boat Industries driver Chris Windom – gaining on his competitor in the points standings for the second straight night.
The win for Kofoid gives him his sixth of the USAC season and a 47-point lead on Windom in the points standings.
“Its really cool to get my sixth win and get some more points,” Kofoid said on the FloRacing broadcast. “Its going to be crucial to win at Ventura, but yeah its sweet.”
This result doesn’t necessarily clinch the title for the KKM No. 67 team, but Kofoid is in a good spot. Only 70 points can be awarded in a USAC Midget race and so long as he starts the A-Main, the title should be Kofoid’s – knock on wood for him.
Wednesday’s race got a bit interesting ahead of the final stretch, however, when Jade Avedisian – a 15-year old – battled with her teammate and momentarily took second from Windom.
The girl, who is one of that young crop of drivers on their way up, didn’t get on the podium on Wednesday but had nothing to slouch about in a top 5 finish.
Logan Seavey rounded out the top 10.
The series will conclude its season on Saturday night at Ventura, with a big trophy to be awarded. All of the action can be seen live on FloRacing.
