David Gravel made the trip back to victory lane at Eldora, just a few days after he went to that spot after winning the Joker’s Wild on Wednesday.
The driver of the Huset’s Speedway No. 2 car conquered his second prelim of the week, and will now be allotted to qualify at any time during the 50+car session at Saturday night’s Kings Royal.
“Yeah, like I’ve been saying we’ve been extremely average,” Gravel said in victory lane. “We’re right there – just with little tweaks (we need) to challenge for some wins. It’s the toughest it’s ever been in sprint car racing since I’ve been involved. You have to battle every single race.”
Gravel earned the same advantage on Thursday, but an invert of 5 for the heat races slotted him in fifth for his heat race, despite a second place lap in qualifying.
Saturday’s Kings Royal at Eldora will feature an invert of 4 in the heat races, so drivers that qualify in positions 19-24 will be leading the six heat races to the green flag this evening.
The major event on the World of Outlaws schedule will start at approximately 3:30 p.m. CT, with track prep taking place this afternoon. Following the work being done to the track, Eldora will open the gates for fans and hot laps will start shortly after.
