It will be an action packed week of late model racing in Greenwood, Nebraska over the next five days – and the track that hosts a late model crown jewel is no stranger to giving out big bucks.
For the 2021 edition of Silver Dollar Nationals week, I-80 Speedway will race for $30,000 on Thursday before putting it together for the $53,000-to-win finale on Saturday night at the track.
The week starts on Tuesday with the first of three ‘I-80 Nationals’ that pay $7,000 a piece ahead of Thursday’s event finale.
After that, a two-day format awaits the what is suspected to be a large field for one of the biggest races of the year on the late model scene.
Tim McCreadie comes into the race with 15 top 10’s in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series this season, as well as the holder of the points championship lead for the tour.
He’s expected to go toe-to-toe with World of Outlaws points leader and defending Silver Dollar Nationals champion Brandon Sheppard – who is coming off of a win on Sunday night at the Rumble at the Red Cedar.
Sheppard leads the top pair of late model national tours with four wins this season in series races, tied with Jonathan Davenport.
The action kicks off in Nebraska on Tuesday night, and can be followed all through the week as more and more cars show up in anticipation of the weekend’s annual Silver Dollar Nationals. All of it can be seen live through MAVTV Plus.
