It was a quick, mostly issue free night for the first slate of action for this week’s duel World 100’s at Eldora – at least for how many cars are there.
Johnny Scott and Tim McCreadie took home the wins in the night’s twin 25-lap A-Main’s.
Scott took over the lead early and delivered a surprising victory in the first race of the night. He even said in victory lane that if he didn’t get another this week, he’d be content with his $10,000 feature check.
“This is crazy,” Scott said after the race on FloRacing. “It definitely beat my expectations for sure. Last time we came here for the double Dreams, we didn’t make either (race). The last four or five big races here with the Lucas Oil tour, I hadn’t made any of the big shows. It’s been a long road. A couple weeks ago, I wanted to just go back home. I was over it. These guys convinced me to stay out here doing it… This is huge. If we don’t qualify for another race the rest of the weekend, I’m totally content with it.”
McCreadie on the other hand, came in as a big favorite.
The 2018 champion exited the night as the high-points man after coming from ninth and utilizing the low line on the race track, to take the lead and extend it to three seconds in a matter of laps.
It’s only night one, but McCreadie had the fastest car on the track.
“I don’t know what everyone else felt, I just felt so good and I thought, ‘Well, don’t ever leave the bottom,’ McCreadie said on the broadcast. “Who knows what will happen, but tonight we’ll take the money.”
All of the results were compiled, and McCreadie and Scott are sitting pretty. The Wheel of Misfortune was spun at the end of the evening, landing on a 5 to deliver the invert for the 51st World 100 heat races to lead into the big show tonight.
Hot laps are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT. The race can be seen live on FloRacing. Heat Race Lineups are posted below.
