The opening race of the Atlanta doubleheader saw Kyle Busch cruise to his 60th career truck series win in the Fr8 Auctions 200 on Saturday.
Busch took over the lead in the third stage and cruised his way to the win. Rowdy didn’t waste any time getting in the win column in the Truck Series for 2021.
As many times that Busch enters the Truck Series, he is running up front. In this case he dominated. However, it wasn’t easy early on. His KBM driver and teammate John Hunter Nemechek won the first two stages and did it in two different ways. Nemechek made a last lap pass on Busch coming to the green-white checkered flag to end stage one. In stage two, Nemechek took the lead away from Busch and ran away with that stage as well.
Busch would regain the lead to start stage three and never really looked back. A cycle of green flag pit stops put Busch behind the lead but was able to make it up. Nemechek came into the pits running second and came out running third after a bobble getting onto pit road. Austin Hill would make the pass in the pits. He came out three seconds behind Busch following the cycle. This was enough of a gap for Busch to hold on and pick up KBM’s second win of the season.
Hill held on to the second place spot and would finish one spot ahead of Nemechek. Johnny Sauter and Sheldon Creed rounded out the top five spots.
