There was a change to the Knoxville Nationals entry list late on Sunday night following the conclusion of the Capitani Classic at Knoxville Raceway.

However, it wasn’t the most highly expected change that fans have been waiting for.

CJB Motorsports announced that Zeb Wise will be racing their No. 5XX at this year’s Knoxville Nationals, which begin on Wednesday.

The team stated that Buddy Kofoid would not be racing, due to an injury he recently sustained.

“Thank you to Zeb Wise for filling in for Buddy Kofoid this week at Knoxville Raceway,” the team wrote in a tweet published on Sunday night. “Buddy will be taking this time to rest a recent injury. He will return to the 5x mid September. Zeb will qualify on Wednesday in the 5xx and we look forward to working with Zeb this week.”

Wise currently runs full time on the FloRacing All Star Circuit of Champions tour, driving for a team he co-owns.

So far this year, Wise has one win, 10 top 5’s, 16 top 10’s, and sits fifth in the overall series points championship.

Wise wrote a statement as well in a tweet reading, “News is out a little earlier than mid week, but this is gonna be fun! Excited to be in the seat of the 5xx for nationals this week! Thankful that Chad, Barry, Derek, and the whole 5 team thought of me to fill in for Buddy.”

The Knoxville Nationals kick off on Wednesday with Night 1 of the field taking to the track. As always, all of the action can be seen live on DirtVision.com.
